Garfield Square Park
Garfield Park is a 3.46-acre park located in the Mission District/Bernal Heights on Harrison St. between 25th and 26th St. Facilities including children's play structures, 1 of the 2 community pools in the Mission, picnic areas, a very popular artificial turf soccer playfield, and a clubhouse.
The City Fields Foundation and the Recreation and Park Department replaced the dirt field with an artificial turf field with permanent goals, new fencing and landscaping, lights and picnic area. The City Fields Foundation is a private nonprofit organization that was founded in 2005 by Bill, John and Bob Fisher, sons of Gap Inc. founder Donald Fisher, to address the city's shortage of playfields. The great popularity of this playing field has been cited as the reason the neighborhood has been able to reclaim the park as a family friendly oasis. http://www.cityfieldsfoundation.org/garfield_square.shtml

Dia de los Muertos is a traditional Meso-American holiday dedicated to the ancestors; it honors both death and the cycle of life. In San Francisco, Day of the Dead has been celebrated since the early 70s with art, music, performances and a walking procession, which help us contemplate our existence and mortality -- a moment toremember deceased friends and family, and our connections beyond our immediate concerns.
