OMNIVORE BOOKS
Featuring new, antiquarian, and collectible books on food and drink.
Omnivore connects the past to the present by offering centuries of knowledge on growing, raising, and cooking food. We offer everything from 19th Century agricultural guides to how to start a kitchen garden in a 21st Century apartment. Signed First Editions by past and present culinary luminaries such as Julia Child, M.F.K. Fisher, James Beard, and Marco Pierre White. Cookbooks from the eras of Colonial India, Belle Epoque France, 1950’s America, and of course, today.
While the store is full of books, it also hosts numerous events featuring chefs and authors talking about their passions. Search the website, sign up for our e-newsletter, but better yet, come in and browse, sit down and read, learn how to catch a hare, or cook a wolf – what could be better?
According to 7x7 Bet of the City 2009 Edition:
"Since Celia Sack opened Omnivore Books last fall, this teeny shop (hawking both antiquarian and new cookbooks) in a quiet corner of Noe Valley has lured just about every big culinary personality with a book to do a signing or talk. The shop itself is only 500 square feet, which gives disciples the chance to actually rub elbows with heroes like Eric Ripert and Deborah Madison. This month, catch Alice Waters and Michael Pollan.
