YO'S SUSHI CLUB
Everywhere else in the Mission/Castro/Noe/Bernal doesn't compare. I don't know why it took us so long to find this little gem! Yo is a true sushi chef and we watched him work his magic with his sushi knife and the super fresh fish.... The waitstaff is really friendly and the prices are reasonable.
I recommend the Toro Nigiri which is out of this world, and also Yo's Special roll and Wasabi Tobiko....They also have some great sake, and some delicious specialty rolls....If you prefer simple and savory style dishes like us try: aji nigiri, wasabi tobiko (real wasabi, real hot!)
voodoo salmon nigiri.... I recommend Taro, Uni, Tabiko with quail egg on top, Suzuki. and seaweed salad too.
Yo's short for Yoshihiko ... Located right across the street from "Safeway."
Yo's Sushi Club is a hovel of a restaurant, positioned near the nexus of Mission and 30th, an area that has a remarkable array of good restaurants, or at the very least great diversity of cuisines. This is a low-on-the-food-chain kind of restaurant. It's not glamorous or even especially pretty. The menu is concise: sushi. If you want teriyaki or tempura or gimmicky rolls made with caramel and Rice Krispies, you're out of luck. Yo serves fish, fresh fish and nothing but the fish.
