CARITAS MANAGEMENT CORPORATION

Caritas Management Corporation is MHDC’s wholly-owned property management subsidiary. It’s mission is to manage low-income housing in a way that enhances the quality of life for tenants and the surrounding community, and to provide long-term employment opportunities for community residents. Created in 1983, Caritas now manages over 800 units of MHDC property, including family housing, senior housing, and SRO housing. In addition, Caritas markets its property management services to other nonprofits; currently, Caritas manages over ??? units for ten nonprofit clients in San Francisco and the East Bay. As a minority-owned and operated organization, Caritas' philosophy of tenant-supportive and fiscally sound property management reflects the mission and purpose of its parent company, MHDC. Through tenant associations and day-to-day discussions, Caritas encourages tenant input and participation in the community. Caritas also works hand-in-hand with MHDC and numerous agencies to create supportive housing programs that emphasize independent living and resident empowerment.
